Event DescriptionSan Pablo Bay NWR is hosting a community discussion regarding climate change called “What?! Sharks in My Backyard?” as a way of presenting information from the Adapting to Rising Tides project (www.adaptingtorisingtides.org) and as a means to open up community engagement about how do we begin to adapt to such an drastic change in our environment. The talk will cover details about the restorations efforts in the San Pablo Bay as well. Along with the discussions, there will be an art exhibit at the San Pablo Art Gallery about the local impacts of sea level rise. It’s entitled 55” – Images of Sea Level Rise, Abstraction Meets Reality. It features realistic images of glaciers, icebergs, and arctic wildlife of the of renown nature photographer, Oliver Klink, and large-scale abstract paintings of melting glaciers and icebergs – all with a 55” horizon line. The exhibit offers one way to open up the conversation about the projected impacts of sea level rise on the San Francisco Bay --which is projected to be approximately 55” higher by the year 2100.
