ART Bay Area is the first regional study to assess the impacts of rising sea level to four systems that are critical to the continued functioning and prosperity of communities in the Bay Area - transportation networks, vulnerable communities, future growth areas, and natural lands - The findings will be critical to drive region-wide and local decision making in preparing to respond to rising sea levels.

Climate Change Policy White Paper

The purpose of this paper is to synthesize ongoing climate change planning processes that are occurring within the San Francisco Bay Joint Venture’s (SFBJV) boundaries and to identify priority agencies and processes for the SFBJV and partners to be engaged in. In doing so, this paper specifically calls out time-sensitive opportunities for regulatory and policy discussions that would impact restoration activities throughout the region and highlights where the SFBJV can be most effective in order to influence these planning processes and policy changes. This paper can also be used as an advocacy tool to outline priorities of the SFBJV and provide a justification for these priorities.

Policieis for a Rising Bay

The Policies for a Rising Bay project was developed in order to evaluate the Commission’s laws and policies in light of the novel threats to the Bay presented by sea level rise; and to determine if changes are needed to help facilitate the region to advance appropriate resilience and adaptation actions. To ensure a broad and collaborative review of the Commission’s laws, policies, and climate change program, the Commission staff organized a steering committee composed of over 30 stakeholders representing public, private, and non- governmental organizations. Working together with steering committee members and other interested parties, the Commission staff analyzed existing laws and policies through one-on-one interviews, case studies, and a series of working meetings.
