Event Description | This year, International Migratory Bird Day focuses on the Centennial of the first Migratory Bird Treaty, signed
August 16, 1916, as well as on the larger theme of bird migration, featuring the theme “Spread Your Wings for
Bird Conservation.” With the beautiful work of artist Lionel Worrell, the annual poster, education materials,
and promotional materials have been developed for use from Canada to Argentina and the Caribbean. This
short WebEx will provide information about incorporating the theme into your International Migratory Bird
Celebration. Whether your organization chooses to host a single event, a half or full day festival, or join in a
partnership effort, details and resources needed to help celebrate International Migratory Bird Day will be
provided.
We will go through the basic steps and resources available to help you, including making sure you identify
your goals and desired outcomes. We will list necessary partnerships and steps for planning and organizing the
event, as well as pitfalls to avoid. We will also offer suggestions for working with volunteers and getting
community buy‐in. We will provide examples of festival that have been successful so you can take advantage
of experiences of other IMBD festival organizers.
To register for the Webinar, please email: Rachel_levin@fws.gov no later than COB Monday, Feb. 15. |
